The TV companies will have to pick their games over a month in advance for the penultimate Saturday.

Given that between BT and SKY they will show 4 games and I would think the 3 games involved in the title would be 3 of them.

Which of these would be picked over West Ham?

Norwich v Man Utd
Sunderland v Chelsea
Liverpool v Watford
Palace v Stoke
Bournemouth v WBA
Villa v Newcastle

West Ham was always going to be shoe in for TV

Re: Tonight's SAB

Some good points, personally I have always felt this is one fixture that should have been primarily focused on those attending especially I simply cannot believe any TV coverage on this occasion will be a substitute for being there, games are messed around all season for TV and this time the club could have put their fans first so they could make their arrangements with some certainty for the special day.

I don't get this argument about UK TV coverage was shoe in by avoiding the last week, yes maybe more likely but I simply don't believe that Sky would have sacrificed a title deciding fixture to show this game and if they did show it if the title was won suddenly ignore all that to focus on the build-up or post events of our game, for that reason and the kind of reasons you give I would have always have felt having it on the final day where it was immovable was the better choice.

Fans overseas would generally have the same opportunity they have every week to watch the 90 minutes of the game and the club could have made arrangements maybe at the Olympic Park to put a Fans Event on for those that couldn't get tickets and show the game and all the build up on big screens.

I just think it was a missed opportunity with the uncertainty and inconvenience now happening both regrettable and avoidable.

Didn't some claim on here that we'd struck a deal with Swansea so we could give them a lower allocation, allowing more of our own fans to see the final game?

That turned out ok.

I don't think that is his argument - although i'm sure he can speak for himself.

Whether the last game is on the last week, the penultimate week or under the lights against Man Utd it's gonna be a fantastic occasion but the decision made by the club meant that all those fans that couldn't attend in person will get a chance to see it live.

Look, it's a fuck up and it won't be as good as it would have been had it been on a weekend, as it could/should have been.

But is it really that much of an "inconvenience" for an STH to go to a night match? Difficult for some, sure - but I'm sure Sunday games are difficult for others.

"the 'event' of the last ever game at UP is not really about the match itself. It's about soaking up the atmosphere, reminiscing, chatting to your neighbours for the last time, walking around the old place one last time "

It's ALL about the match itself...

Atmosphere? Will be electric under the lights against Man Utd

Reminiscing? Can't reminiscing on a evening game?

Chatting to your neighbours for the last time? Can't chat on an evening game

Walking around the old place one last time? Can't walk around the ground one last time on an evening then?

Just be honest, you want to join in whatever tacky bollocks G&S had lined up didn't you?

Which is exactly Croe's arguement. As long as 100,000 fans who aren't going to the game can watch it on TV, fuck the inconvenience to the STH.

Re: Tonight's SAB

Lucky you can afford one, how about all the people that can't? Shouldn't they be able to watch the game then? or did you want it to be for the elite with tickets for some reason?

West Ham have hundreds of thousands fans all around the world, I'm not sure why a handful of season ticket holders on here seem to think these people should be witness to such an event.

Fuck them, frankly. The people actually turning up to the game get priority in my book. And let's be honest, the 'event' of the last ever game at UP is not really about the match itself. It's about soaking up the atmosphere, reminiscing, chatting to your neighbours for the last time, walking around the old place one last time - none of which can be transmitted through a fucking TV screen.

If people want to experience the 'event', get your arses down to the ground on the day and soak up the atmosphere. If others are more worried about the actual match, then stream it, go down the pub or watch Match Of The Day.

whufcroe 2:17 Wed Feb 24

and if you read a few posts back I said that Man
U under the lights will be much better than Swansea at any time.

For me, our last ever game at the Boleyn is not just about the 90 mins on the pitch, it's about the day, it's about the occasion and if it makes me selfish to want to maximise that to the full and enjoy a good few hours of build up to the game in the pubs and streets around the ground followed by more celebrations after then yes I am selfish. If it makes me selfish to want to spend the day with my mates and their kids like I do every weekend home game then yes I'm selfish.

No idea, I have always felt they have made the wrong call regardless of the reasons claimed by not having the game on the final day, as I have said personally it makes little difference to me but I can totally understand how it might to others and the impact on them now is solely because of this decision the club made and that I think is sad.
